Why do we experience often an absence of partnership across hierarchical organizations?
We are all committed to a partnership relationship (A relationship in which we are jointly committed to the success of whatever endeavor, process or project we are engaged in.) between people within and across departments in order to ensure the resilience and the performance of our organization.
But the reality is that under the stress of transformation and/or digitalization and/or isolation of remote working, we experience human tensions and we abandon the partnership - not everybody, not always but with great regularity - :
When in the Top position, we do not delegate enough responsibilities in change periods to strengthen the resilience of the overall organization.
When in the Bottom position, we complain about our work conditions issues/changes and we do not take enough initiatives to resolve them or initiate their resolution.
When in the Middle position, we try to meet all fast-changing demands falling on us (an impossible challenge!) and we are perceived as ineffective, weak, and isolated. We feel even sometimes incompetent.
Therefore, people in Customer position often feel neglected by the organization.
We live again and again this experience and we feel powerless to change it because we are individually and collectively blind to the root cause of this chronic partnership gap:
These behaviors of Tops, Middles and Bottoms are not primarily an individual character/behavior challenge, but a systemic reflexive behavioral script we all step into when working in any hierarchical organization.
How can the Organization Workshop help restore our desired partnership?
The Organization workshop has been developed to create individual and collective
deep awareness of these systemic forces with their impact on our behaviors and feelings of powerlessness
commitment to act on our behaviors to restore and maintain the partnership we all aspire to
resilience towards the stress created by the human tensions and the feelings of powerlessness
It is a one day intensively experiential initial session to create awareness, followed by a series of learning and practice sessions (2 to 3 hours each) to anchor these behavior changes most relevant for ourselves and our organization.
It has been delivered in person since the 1980s by a network of hundreds facilitators to thousands of middle and large organizations worldwide.
The Organization Workshop has been delivered virtually over the Internet since 2020.
